Yes, there is. It is called JIS card.
You have to fill in an online form to get it done. Then you will have to pick it up at the main building in the university campus Bory – JIS office.
Do I have to give back the JIS card when I finish my Erasmus?
Yes, you have to give it back at the main building in the University Campus Bory – JIS office.
Which are the typical restaurants to go?
In Pilsen there are many places where you can go. For example you can go to the restaurant U Pětatřicátníků, to the pizzeria Da Pietro, to Aberdeen Angus Steak House, to Purkmistr, etc.
Do you have to give tips in Czech restaurants?
Tipping in the Czech Republic is commonly expected, especially in Prague. But if you don’t want to you don’t have to do it.
Where do I have to sign my arrival form?
You have to go to the main building in the University Campus. You can walk from Bory (last stop from tram number 4) or take the bus number 30 or 24 to the stop called “Západoceská univerzita”. The office number is UI 112.
How can you pay the canteen?
You can pay it with the JIS card (you top up your JIS card in the canteen, at all the canteen cash desks) or with cash. It is cheaper if you pay with the JIS card.
How can I select my subjects in the webpage?
You have to enter into the portal UWB www.portal.zcu.cz/portal/studium/prohlizeni.html?pc_lang=en
Then you click into study, browse IS/STAG and courses. In courses you can search for a course you like. If you want a subject from the English Department (you should have majority of subjects from KAN), you have to write in the unit abbreviation “KAN”.
When is the exam period?
The winter exam period starts at the beginning of January and finishes mid February. The summer exam period starts mid Mayand finishes at the end of June. But if you are an Erasmus student you can agree on an exam date individually with your teachers.
How can I know the amount of money I have in my JIS card?
You have to go to this website: https://iskam-web.zcu.cz/
There you login with your Orion account and you can see the amount of money you have.
Is there an app to see the transport schedules?
Yes, there is. You can download MHD Plzen for public transport or IDOS for trains and buses in the Czech Republic.
Does the canteen open for dinner time?
No, it doesn’t. It only opens for lunch (from 11:00 until 14:30) and the weekends is closed.
If some of my subjects have a Moodle support, how can I access my moodle account?

Until what time is the tram during the night?
The last tram is at 00:00. Then you have night buses every hour.
When do you have to pay the dormitory?
You have to pay between the first 15 days of each month.
How much does the dormitory cost?
It depends in which dormitory you are in. If you are in Borska you pay around 2300 CZK but if you are in Boleveska you can pay from 2000 CZK to 5000 CZK.
